Indians fall to Nighthawks

HULL - In a battle of No. 1 vs. No. 2, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley came out on top over Spirit Lake 25-10 on Friday.

The Indians held a 10-7 lead late in the first half when Nighthawks' quarterback Brandt Van Roekel got free for an 87-yard touchdown.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley's defense and run game proved more than a match for the Indians in the second half.

Unofficially, the Nighthawks had 261 yards rushing on 43 carries. They were 3-of-11 passing for 50 yards with three interceptions. Nic Amundson snagged two and Cody Poock had the other.

The Indians were limited to 46 yards rushing on 35 carries. Paul Brown was 14-of-21 passing for 133 yards and one interception. The Indians also lost two fumbles. Poock had 32 yards on 12 carries. Tyler Peterson caught two passes for 45 yards and Andrew Ites caught four for 41.

Spirit Lake (4-1 overall, 2-0 in district play) returns to district play against East Sac County next Friday.
