ELC opened the day with a 21-19, 21-2 win over Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, then lost 15-21, 21-9, 20-18 to Laurens-Marathon before bouncing back with a 21-10, 21-12 win over Sioux City West.

"Against Laurens-Marathon our inconsistencies carried over," said ELC coach Tyler Johnson. "After winning the first game, I don't think we get through four of their six servers.

"But our goal was to make it out of pool play and we did that.

In the semifinal, ELC won 25-22, 25-15 over Harris-Lake Park and then the Midgets lost 27-25, 25-21 to Humboldt.

Coach Johnson said his team did a good job of playing aggressively against Harris-Lake Park.

But inconsistencies showed up against Humboldt.

"We were ahead 24-16 in the first game and couldn't find a way to get out of that rotation," Johnson said. "In the second game, we showed some good things and played well to keep it close."

For the day, Casey Sievert led the attack with 33 kills including 12 against Harris-Lake Park.

Allie Sievert finished with 27 kills with her best match coming against Laurens-Marathon with 11 kills.

Paige Guge also had her kill high of seven against Laurens-Marathon with six each against Sioux West and Harris-Lake Park.

Megan Jensen finished with 19 kills including seven versus Harris-Lake Park and five versus GT/RA.

Jensen finished the day with 47 set assists while Casey Sievert had 46.

From the service line, Kristen King had eight ace serves; Guge had seven, Allie Sievert had six and Casey Sievert had five.

Allie Sievert led the defense with 29 digs and seven blocks. King finished with 28 digs while Guge had 15 and Casey Sievert had 10.

ELC (10-7 overall) is home against Spirit Lake this evening for Parents' Night.
