MARSHALLTOWN - The Iowa Lakes Volleyball Team posted a 3-1 record at the Region XI Tournament this past weekend.
On Friday, the Lakers opened with a 3-0 win against Southeastern and then lost 3-2 to Ellsworth. On Saturday, the Lakers came back with a sweep of Clinton and a 3-1 win over Marshalltown.
Scores against Southeastern were 25-6, 25-5, 25-13. Dani Pettigrew led the Lakers with 13 kills and three ace serves. Brandi DeMuth had nine kills and two aces and Christy Wicks had eight kills. Also Mariah Christian had 29 set assists and two ace serves. Kiara Garcia had 26 digs.
The scores against Ellsworth were 22-25, 17-25, 25-20, 34-32 and 15-10.
Pettigrew finished with 24 kills, three aces and three block assists. Wicks had 19 kills and eight blocks. DeMuth had 20 kills and two ace serves. Sunday Duop had seven blocks. Garcia finished with 34 digs and five ace serves. Christian had 46 assists.
The Lakers defeated Clinton 25-16, 24-8, 25-10. Wicks finished with 13 kills while Pettigrew had eight. Christian had 17 set assists and two ace serves. Garcia had 24 digs and two ace serves.
The Lakers defeated Marshalltown 24-26, 25-21, 25-13, 25-23. Wicks finished with 23 kills while Pettigrew had 22 and DeMuth had 12. Garcia had 35 digs and three ace serves. Christian had 48 set assists. Makenzie Mueske had six blocks.
