Estherville FD extinguishes basement fire

November 7, 2012
Estherville Daily News

The Estherville Fire Department took care of a small house fire around noon on Wednesday.

According to fire chief Dick Beaver, the fire department was paged to 209 S. 10th St. in Estherville. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke coming out of the house and were told the fire was in the basement. When entry was made, most of the fire was found in the southwest corner of the basement. It was extinguished and firefighters checked to make sure there was no extension of the fire.

Firefighters were on scene for about 90 minutes. The house is owned and occupied by Bobbi Jo Dalen and Scott Still.

Beaver said the fire appears to have been started by a TV in the basement.

The Wallingford Fire Department, Estherville Ambulance, Estherville Police Department and Emmet County Emergency Management assisted.
