ARMSTRONG?- The Armstrong City Council Monday approved an agreement for a private development between the city and Casey's Marketing Company for a storm sewer serving the new Casey's in Armstrong.
Under the agreement, the city would be rebated the difference between previous and new property taxes in exchange for cost sharing the storm sewer estimated to cost a maximum of $160,000.
The council also approved an amendment to the Valley Vue Urban Renewal Plan to include Casey's. The council also waived second and third readings and approved final passage of the ordinance.
The council also heard from maintenance director Tom Leach about a request from GKN to use the city sewer.
With a cost estimate of $30,000 to repair the water tower, the council agreed to get a quote from Maguire to epoxy the entire inside. Leach said DNR officials had wanted the city to indicate sometime this fall its intentions with work to be done in the spring.
The council approved a resolution requesting the assistance of Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission to update city subdivision regulations. Thackery said the commission would initially charge $1,000 with the rest of the cost spread over the year it would take to complete the study.
