NORFOLK, Neb. - The Iowa Lakes women's basketball team earned its first win of the season with an 83-69 victory over North Platte Community College on Friday at the NECC Classic.
On Saturday, the Lakers then fell to host Northeast 61-46 to fall to 1-4 on the season.
Myangel Johnson led the Lakers with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting. She also pulled down 11 of her team's 44 rebounds.
Carla Barrera came off the bench had scored 15 points including 8-of-11 from the free throw line.
Sunday Duop and Rachel Hinners each chipped in 13 points while Amber Grengs tossed in 12.
The Lakers finished with 20 assists with five each from Duop and Hinners. Duop also had a team-high three steals.
Iowa Lakes trailed 29-26 at halftime against Northeast, but couldn't keep up in the second half.
Grengs was the only player to reach double digits with 15 points, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range. Barrera finished with eight. Duop contributed five rebounds and five assists. Ashleigh Dykes finished with six assists.
Iowa Lakes travels to Burlington to take on Southeastern Community College at 2 p.m. this Sunday.
