The Sweet Corn Days committee and the Iowa Lakes Community College Graphic Design and Technology program have completed a partnership that has resulted in a brand new logo for Estherville's biggest event.
Stephanie Neppl, executive director of the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce, says the project has been beneficial for both parties.
"The Sweet Corn Days Committee had been considering getting a new logo designed, and we thought partnering with our local students was a great idea," Neppl said.

Neppl spoke to Debbie Wilson's Graphic Design class and gave them an overview of Sweet Corn Days and the Estherville elements brand. The students then submitted logos for consideration to the Sweet Corn Days committee.
"It was much harder than we thought to choose!" Neppl said. "There were some great ideas, and lots of parts of the logos that we liked. We ended up narrowing them down to the final two, and had a vote."
The winning student was Tyler Davis of Sanborn, Minn.
Wilson said, "When Stephanie contacted me about involving my students in designing a new logo for Sweet Corn Days, I knew it was a great opportunity. Anytime the students can work on a real-life project, it increases their knowledge base and gives them the experience of working with an actual client."
"We are lucky to have such a great community college in Iowa Lakes, and we would love to work together in this way again in the future," Neppl said.
