Thompson, Gibson win tourney crowns at Sibley

SIBLEY - Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire took seven wrestlers to the Sibley Invitational on Saturday and came away with two first place finishes and a second to finish seventh overall.

Austin Thompson (132) and Ty Gibson (145) both won their weight brackets.

Thompson pinned Cherokee's Christian Lundy in 41 seconds and then beat Alta-Aurelia's Cody Cameron by an 11-0 major decision. In the finals, he defeated Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn's Derek Erdman 12-7.

Gibson followed a similar day as he pinned MOC-Floyd Valley's Michael Anderson in 1:21 and then won a 12-1 major decision over Ridge View's Tyler Hansen. In the finals, he won 9-2 over Sibley-Ocheyedan's Tyler Reck.

Cody Thompson (285) received a first-round by and then won 12-9 over MOC-Floyd Valley's Brody Koerselman. In the finals, he lost by fall in 46 to Cherokee's Michael Rosewall.

Matt McGrauth finished fourth at 160 pounds while Tyler Hoffman placed fifth at 138 and Kyle Long placed sixth at 195. Hunter Brown did not place at 152 pounds.

GTRA hosts Laurens-Marathon, Sioux Central and Alta this evening in Graettinger.
