Midgets blow out Tornadoes

STORM LAKE - Class 3A No. 3 Estherville Lincoln Central didn't expect much trouble from winless Storm Lake. The Midgets didn't disappoint as they won easily, 86-17, on Tuesday.

ELC jumped out to a 29-8 lead in the first quarter and led 50-12 at halftime and 68-17 after three quarters

Sara Heywood scored 13 points in the first half and ended the evening with 21 points including three 3-pointers.

Allie Sievert scored eight points in the first half and added 11 in the second half to finish with 19.

Maggie McCauley came off the bench to score 16 points, 14 in the first half. Emily Kirchner added 12 points along with six rebounds.

Macy Dahl and Casey Sievert each finished with seven points, Megan Jensen had three and Caitlyn Clayton had one.

ELC was 13-for-19 from the free throw line. The Midgets out-rebounded Storm Lake 24-17. The Tornadoes were 4-for-11 from the free throw line and were led by Chyann Smith with five points.

ELC had 10 turnovers compared to 33 by Storm Lake.

ELC (6-1 overall, 3-0 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Cherokee on Friday. The Braves were 1-4 heading into Tuesday's game against Spirit Lake.
