SIBLEY - Estherville Lincoln Central won most of the contested matches with Sibley-Ocheyedan and Storm Lake on Thursday, but it wasn't enough to overcome all the open weights in the double dual.
Sibley-Ocheyedan edged ELC 42-37 while Storm Lake won 37-33 over the Midgets.
Against Sibley-Ocheyedan, ELC needed to have all pins to overcome five forfeits or at least force a couple decisions in the losses.
The Midgets did receive three forfeits in the match and won four of the six contested matches.
At 132 pounds, Thomas Bortvit pinned Kyle Green in 4 minutes, 41 seconds and at 138 pounds, Austin Egeland pinned Jesse Espinoza in 3:26.
Also Billy Snyder (152) won an 8-0 major decision over Tyler O'Connor and Chase Bonner (220) shut out Jose Olvera 5-0.
But at 145 pounds, Blake Gjerde lost by fall in 3:37 to Tyler Reck. At 170 pounds, Jake Bortvit lost by fall in 1:11 to Chris DeNoble.
Easton Gifford (106), Joel McCoy (113) and Cole Budach (120) all received forfeits for ELC. The Midgets forfeited at 126, 160, 182, 195 and 285.
Against Storm Lake Gjerde (145), Snyder (152) and Bonner (285) all earned pins as ELC won four of the seven contested matches.
Gjerde pinned Kyle Wiegert in 5:43; Snyder pinned Brice Hartnett in 1:47 and Bonner pinned Nate Carlson in 1:25.
ELC's fourth win came at 120 pounds as Budach won a 10-0 major decision over Darren Eades.
In the other matches, Thomas Bortvit (132) lost a 19-7 major decision to Juan Figueroa; Egeland (138) lost 14-7 to Juan Morales. Jake Bortvit (170) lost by fall in 5:06 to Noel Buenelos.
Gifford (106) and McCoy (113) both received forfeits for ELC while the Midgets forfeited 126, 160, 182, 195 and 220.
In junior varsity action, McCoy (113) won a major decision over MOC-Floyd Valley's Jacob Harvey, 16-6.
Kelly Clabaugh (152) went 1-1 as he defeated Storm Lake's Javier Zunega 1-2 and then lost by fall in 43 seconds to S-O's Alex Fisher.
Lee Christensen also went 1-1 at 152 pounds. He pinned Storm Lake's Cesar Loera in 3:40 and lost to Fisher by fall in 2:21.
Trey Trompeter (170) went 1-1 as he pinned Storm Lake's Cristian Gomez in 4:15 and lost by fall to Storm Lake's Eriberto Flores in 55 seconds.
