The board also approved Resolution 13-01, adopting the matrix evaluation procedure for animal confinements, a yearly requirement.

The board also approved appointing Dr. Anthony Cook as county medical examiner, replacing Dr. Richard Bose who announced he was retiring from the position. The board also discussed increasing the county's fee from $50 to $100 for each case.

"We pay almost as much for a beaver as we do for a medical examiner examination," said supervisor Jon Martyr. "I think we should look at what we pay," Martyr added, noting that doubling the amount to $100 would be in order. The board will take the recommendation under consideration when it meets to work out the budget.

The board approved county engineer Roger Patocka as the county's representative for Farm-to-Market road money.

In the engineer's report, Patocka said crews had been maintaining oil and gravel roads and repairing equipment.

Regarding a drainage issue, Martyr said he had spoken with an Iowa Department of Natural Resources representative and landowner and Bud Schnell regarding a drainage issue and determined that a survey needs to be done before work can proceed.
