HAWARDEN - Down three points to start the fourth quarter, Spirit Lake put the clamps on West Sioux defensively and outscored the hosts 17-4 in the final period for a 48-38 victory on Saturday.
The Indians trailed 13-11 after one quarter, but led 22-21 at the break. West Sioux took a 34-31 lead into the final period.
Paul Brown and Alec Henrickson led Spirit Lake with 14 points apiece. Sam Harms chipped in 11 points, all from the free throw line where he was 11-for-18, along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Alex Pringnitz had eight points while Trevor Smith had one. Zach Arneson had seven rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Spirit Lake (7-3 overall) travels to Emmetsburg today.
