The Black Knights Card Club has firmed up plans to hold a dance featuring The Senders 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, March 16.
President Rod Ross broached the subject about bringing in the band to the club at its meeting Tuesday night, and members approved of the idea. The Senders have been a staple of the region for years with their classic rock repertoire.
In other business at Tuesday night's meeting, Ross thanked Ron Anderson who served as president since the Black Knights were reactivated in 2006. The club was originally founded in 1955, making it one of the oldest car clubs in the region. Some of the original members are members of the current club.
Ross noted committees that might need more help, including the Car Show Committee, Cruise Committee, Scholarship Committee, Concessions Committee, Donations Committee, Drags Committee, Cruise to the Lakes Committee and a proposed Special Projects Committee.
Ross thanked everyone for helping with the Christmas party Dec. 1 and noted the upcoming Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce banquet Jan. 17.
Members approved two donation requests and agreed to continue with the May cruise-in but to cut the September cruise-in. They also discussed the Cruise to the Lakes scheduled for Aug. 24.
Ross said he would like to see more get-togethers for members, including events in other communities.
Ross also noted that members now qualify for a 10 percent discount at NAPA in Estherville, Spirit Lake and Spencer by showing a current membership card.
