Spirit Lake girls drop pair of one-point games

The Spirit Lake girls dropped a couple of one-point games this past weekend.

On Friday, the Indians lost in overtime to rival Spencer.

The Indians led 15-12 after one quarter and 31-22 at halftime, but the Tigers made a furious rally. They had the deficit down to 39-33 to start the fourth quarter.

The Tigers took a 45-39 lead with 4:40 in the game, but Spirit Lake rallied to take a 52-49 lead after a 3-point play by Alissa Christoffer.

However Spencer's Heather Williamson hit a 3-pointer with 6 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

Christoffer led Spirit Lake with 28 points while Bailey Loveall had 10, Emma Dau had seven, Abbey Horsman had four and Carter Hassel, Jessie Kabele and Carly Ites each had two points.

Kirstin Martindale led Spencer with 22 points and Williamson had 14.

On Friday, Okoboji edged Spirit Lake 49-48.

The teams were tied at 8-8 after one quarter with the Indians leading 20-16 at halftime. The Pioneers rallied in the third quarter to lead 31-28 to start the final frame.

Emma Dau led Spirit Lake with 16 points.

Spirit Lake (7-5 overall, 4-3 in the Lakes Conference) travels to LeMars
