Reiter hit his first two 3-pointers and scored eight points in the first quarter to help ELC take a 10-7 lead. But Emmetsburg scored the final six of the period to lead 13-10.

After a technical foul against ELC to start the second quarter gave Emmetsburg two free throws and a five-point lead, Reiter hit consecutive treys to pull ELC within one.

David Hughes came off the bench and scored to put ELC in the lead. Evan Hansen finished off the half with a 3-pointer and then a basket at the buzzer as ELC led 23-19 at the half.

Emmetsburg quickly scored the first two baskets of the second half to tie the game at 23-23. But ELC didn't relinquish its advantage for long.

A basket by Burrell put ELC ahead and Reiter notches his fifth trey to put ELC back up five.

But the E'Hawks rallied and a 3-pointer by Mike Myers tied the game at 30-30.

Reiter responded with eight straight points including two more 3-pointers and ELC led 38-32 to start the final quarter.

The E'Hawks never got closer than six with Reiter's fine 3-pointer putting ELC up 50-40 with about 2 1/2 minutes left in the game.

After not shooting a single free throw in the first three quarters, the Midgets struggled at the line late in the game, but made enough to preserve the victory.

Hansen finished with seven points and seven rebounds. Derek Nieland had six points, Burrell had five, Hughes had four and Joe Heinrichs had three.

ELC finished with 32 rebounds compared to 31 by the E'Hawks. ELC had 11 turnovers to just five for Emmetsburg. Jake Jackson led Emmetsburg (2-10 overall, 0-8 in the Lakes Conference) with 20 points while Erik Drost had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

ELC (5-9 overall, 3-5 in the Lakes Conference) travels to Spencer on Friday.
