ARMSTRONG - The North Union boys picked up the pace in the second quarter and then did well to win51-40 over Clay Central-Everly on Tuesday.
"We start slow most games and CCE played pretty well tonight," said North Union coach Curt Fothergill. "But our boys played hard."
The Warriors trailed 11-9 after one quarter, but took a 28-16 lead into halftime and stretched it to 40-25 after three quarters.
Colton McConnell led the Warriors with 17 points, three steals and two assists. Shane Mills finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and three blocked shots.
Kaleb Olson scored six points, Logan Hellman had three, Aric Runge, Corey Vaske and Alex Krantz each had two. Also Krantz had seven rebounds and Runge had six rebounds and three blocks. Colin Runksmeier had six steals and two assists. Olson had two assists.
North Union (3-14 overall, 3-6 in the Cornbelt Conference) travels to Harris-Lake Park on Friday.
