Indians pull away from Tigers in second half

SPIRIT LAKE - The eighth-ranked Spirit Lake girls out-scored Spencer 25-7 in the third quarter to defeat the Tigers 53-37 in a regular season finale on Tuesday.

The two teams were tied at 7-7 after one quarter and 18-18 at halftime.

KJ Veldman led the Indians with 27 points, nine rebounds, five steals and two assists.

Alisa Christoffer and Emma Dau each had seven points while Abbey Horsman had four and Joie Veldman, Carter Hassel, Kendra Stokke and Bailey Loveall each had two points. Loveall also had eight rebounds and four steals.

Spirit Lake (13-8 overall, 9-5 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Sheldon (5-16) in the first-round of the Class 3A playoffs at 7 p.m. this Saturday.
