GRAETTINGER - Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Streit, 73, of Wallingford will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger with Monsignor Michael Sernett as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery.

She died on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Elizabeth Marie (Lammers) Streit, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Margaret (Hickey) Lammers, was born Jan. 10, 1940 in Emmetsburg. Betty lived in Graettinger, Whittemore and Wallingford.

Betty attended the Blue Bottom Country School until eighth grade, then Graettinger High School. Betty graduated in 1957 from Graettinger High School and attended one year of junior college at Emmetsburg.

On April 21, 1959, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Edward Joseph Streit in Graettinger. Betty worked at Berkley of Spirit Lake, West Oaks Resort of Arnolds Park and Iowa Lakes Community College in the kitchen. Betty enjoyed visiting with the college students at ILCC. Betty and Ed ran and operated Streit Electric for over 35 years together.

Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Rosary Society. Betty was a member of the Wallingford Auxiliary.

Betty is survived by her two daughters: Lori Mourlam and her husband, Mark, of Sheldon and Lynette Nitchals and her husband, Stan, of Wallingford; one son, Doug Streit, and his wife, Natalie, of Hartley; seven grandchildren, Matt (Laura) Mourlam, Jeremy (Angela) Mourlam and Faith Mourlam and Kathie and Amanda Nitchals, Luke and Erin Streit; five great-grandchildren, Allison, Emily, Arica, Keith and Jada and sisters, Marjorie Kimpton of Chico, Texas, Donna Jean (John) Tindall and Joyce (Bill) Tindall, all of Graettinger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; infant twins, Dean Edward and Deanna Marie; her parents, Alfred and Mary Margaret; Ed's parents, George and Leona; one sister, Joann Kimpton, and godson, Rick Tindall. Online condolences may be sent to www.henryolsonfuneral.com.
