Includes 2 percent raise for elected officials

The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a total county budget of $9,806,306.

Property taxes will comprise $4,411,446 of the budget, with total revenues at $8,715,939, a $1,090,367 drawdown in the estimated ending fund balance covering the difference.

Some key points of the budget are:

n A $3.75 General Basic Levy represents an increase of $56,249.

n General Supplemental askings will be $995,158 - an increase of $135,880.

n Mental Health will see a levy of $470,808 - a decrease of $337,531, a result of state-mandated mental-health redesign.

n Three deputies in Rural Services.

n A 2 percent raise for the county attorney, auditor, recorder, sheriff, treasurer and supervisors.

n A total of $193,368 in tax dollars for Public Health of fiscal 2014.

n A Rural Services levy of 3.33206 - an increase of $57,648.

Tax askings for fiscal 2013-14 will be $4,411,446, an $87,754 decrease from the current year's askings of $4,499,200.

Total levies for fiscal 2013-14 will be 9.99620. That compares with 10.68999 for the current year, or a 6.490 decrease.
