The Estherville Lincoln Central School District is honored to be hosting the visitation and funeral services for Staff Sergeant Steven Blass.
ELC superintendent Tara Paul stated in a release that due to the preparations for the visitation on Monday evening, the high school students will be released at 2:20. Those students who need to wait for a bus will be allowed to wait in a designated area.
PreK-8 students grade students will be released at normal times. There will be no school on Tuesday, March 26. As a sign of our respect and in honor of Sergeant Blass all events and practices for March 26 have been postponed.
All school buildings will be locked down immediately after dismissal on Monday and will not reopen until Wednesday morning except for designated doors during the visitation and funeral.
In preparation of the visitation and funeral, ELC families are encouraged to join others in the high school parking lot on Thursday, March 21 at 4 p.m. to help line Central Avenue with over 2,000 full-size flags in honor of Blass.
On Tuesday, March 26 students and their families are encouraged to line Central Avenue as the funeral procession leaves town.
Families can congregate at any of the designated warming sites around 3 p.m. to line the streets and express honor and respect for Sergeant Blass. The designated warming sites are: The Duhigg Center, Estherville Public Library, Farm Bureau Offices, and Grandview Baptist Church.
