ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Marvin Hunt, 70, of Dolliver will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville with Monsignor Michael Sernett as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Dolliver with military rites by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post of Armstrong.

He died Thursday, March 22, 2013, at his home in Dolliver.

Marvin L. Hunt, son of Melvin and Clara (Schwietert) Hunt, was born at the family's home in Dolliver on Feb. 22, 1943.

Marv was a resident of the Dolliver area his entire life and was in the first graduating class of Lincoln Central in May 1961. Marv served his country in Vietnam from 1965-1967 as a member of the United States Army.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Schacherer at St. Patrick's in Estherville on April 22, 1967. Following graduation, Marv drove truck from 1961-1975. He and Margaret owned and operated the M & M Farm Store in Dolliver from 1975-1999. He again operated his trucking business from 1999 to current. In addition, Marv farmed for many years.

Marv was a member of the Dolliver United Methodist Church. He was on the Dolliver City Council for many years as well as the Dolliver Fire Department. He was a member of the Armstrong VFW and the American Legion. Marv will long be remembered by his many friends and family for his quick wit and sense of humor. Always ready for a party, Marv loved to sing at any gathering that involved karaoke. Marv loved farming, fishing and gardening. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Marv is survived by his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Diane (Todd) Casperson, Sara Hunt and Jenny (Aaron) Blankenship; daughter-in-law, Tammy (Travis) Grange; and grandchildren, Aaron and Jeremy Hunt, Josh, Emilee and Nick Casperson and Gabe Blankenship. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Mosloski; brother, William (Ruth Ann) Hunt; brother and sisters-in-law, Mary Herum of Estherville, Lucille McCombs and husband, Lloyd of Ruthven, Louis Schacherer and wife, Shirley, of Estherville, Lorraine Origer and husband, David, of Graettinger and Carmen Schacherer.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, LeRoy and Elizabeth Schacherer; son, Matthew; sister Sarah (Leon) Meyer and brothers-in-law, Marlin Mosloski and Eugene Schacherer; and sister-in-law, Dolores Umscheid.
