Good Friday ecumenical service a wonderful experience

March 29, 2013
Estherville Daily News

The Estherville Area Ministerial Association's Good Friday gospel and blues service at First Presbyterian Church was a great way for people from throughout the community to get together under one roof and share the Good Friday message.

The offering went to the association's Neighbor-to-Neighbor Fund which helps people in Emmet County with rent, electricity and water bills.

The wonderful sounds of a Dixieland band opened the service - and how appropriate. New Orleans is the epitome of a mixture of cultures and rituals, so the music itself speaks to an ecumenical service.

Pastors leading the service included Chad Ensz and Kennen Barber-Ensz, First Presbyterian co-pastors; David Bergstrom, Estherville Lutheran; Doug Burton, First Christian; Lynn Elrod, United Methodist; Joel Jorgenson, Grandview Baptist; Chris Lang, Unity Lutheran Ministries; and Paul Wiegman, Trinity Lutheran.

Musicians included Mark Almquist, trumpet; Steve Danielson, tuba; Courtney Davis, trombone; Brett Fuelberth, piano; William Fuelberth, vocal; Marcia Klingbeil, vocal; Brenda Marks, tenor saxophone, Miss Lee Muleka, vocal; and Barb Schacherer, clarinet.
