CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Lakes Baseball Team suffered a pair of one-run losses against Kirkwood on Sunday.
The Eagles edge the Lakers 2-1 in eight innings in the first game and 8-7 in the second.
Chaday Figueroa pitched six innings and gave up one run on three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. Jordan Petschke took the loss as he pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up one run on one hit with one strikeout.
The Lakers had no hits in the contest and had three errors to Kirkwood's two errors.
In game two, Iowa Lakes rallied from a 6-2 deficit with five runs in the top of the sixth inning, but the Eagles scored two in the bottom of the inning and held the Lakers scoreless in the seventh.
Kirkwood out-hit Iowa Lakes 14-10. Juan Perez took the loss for the Lakers.
At the plate, Edwin Torres was 3-4 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base. Steve Kandborg was 2-3 with a run, a triple and two RBIs. Tanner Johnson was 1-3 and Oscar Galagarza was 1-2 with two runs.
Iowa Lakes (6-8 overall, 0-2 in conference play) took on Kirkwood again in another doubleheader on Monday.
