ARMSTRONG - On Friday, March 15, 2013, a routine search was conducted at the North Union High School for controlled substances and other related items.
The Emmet County Sheriff's Office with K-9 Officer Kacie, Estherville Police Department with K-9 Officer Max and the Armstrong Police Department conducted a search of the school and school parking lot areas.
During the search K-9 Officer Kacie indicated on a vehicle in the school parking lot. A second indication on the same vehicle was made by K-9 Officer Max. A search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in a substance suspected to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
A male juvenile was taken into custody and issued citations for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was then turned over to his parents by law enforcement.
More routine searches will follow and the incident remains under investigation. As always all suspects are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
