BOONE - The Iowa Lakes golf teams were in action Thursday at the DMACC Invitational.
The Laker women finished fourth with a team score of 371. They were led by sophomore Sam Mueller. She fired an 86.
Sophomore Taylor Heinrichs came in with a 93, Tressa DeBoer shot a 95 and Cassie Galm fired a 97.
The Laker men finished in fifth place shooting a team score of 327. They were led by freshman Brandon Klein who shot a 79. Austin Sweeney and Jeremy Wollenburg came in with 81s with Zach Carlson finishing out the scoring with an 86. Non-counting score was Joe Dakken with an 88. Three players played as individuals for the Lakers. Nathan Kyle shot an 80, Shawn Harmon came in with an 83 while Michael Pace fired an 84.
"For this being our first competitive round of the year we played okay," said Iowa Lakes coach Andy Soper. "We have a lot of work to do and need to get better at finishing rounds and staying in the moment and not getting ahead of ourselves."
Next action for the Lakers will be Tuesday, April 9 when the men and women travel to Webster City for the Ellsworth Spring Invite. Also this Sunday the Laker men will play Waldorf College in a Match Play Tournament at Brooks National Golf Course in Okoboji.
