ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Zelma Olson, 100, will be held at a future date at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville. Interment will take place at Swan Lake Cemetery.

She died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at River's Bend Healthcare, South Point, Ohio.

Zelma was born to Lyman and Ethel (nee Wandell) Wetzbarger, on Dec. 6, 1912, on a farm in Spink County, S.D. After her father's death in 1920, the family moved to Redfield, S.D., where Zelma attended the public schools. On Dec. 13, 1931, she married Gustav Olsen in Redfield; they moved to Estherville in 1933. After selling her home, Zelma lived at Breezy Acres until she moved to Huntington, W.V., to live with her daughter and son-in-law, the Sullivans, for 12 years before moving to River's Bend Healthcare.

Zelma was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church. She spent most of her life as a housewife and then worked for various businesses in Estherville. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, raising a garden and reading. Her secret to longevity was to "Take one day at a time."

Zelma celebrated her 100th birthday on June 15-16, 2012, with 49 of her family at River's Bend Healthcare. Zelma is survived by her children, Dwayne (Myrna), Racine, Wis., Julia Sullivan, Huntington, W.V., Lyman (Donna), Iowa Falls and Arthur (Kathy), Hot Springs Village, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Rhoda Olsen, Appleton, Wis. and her sister, Maxine Mason, Redfield, S.D. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Gustav, who died in 1967, Zelma was preceded in death by their oldest son, Alfred, in 1996; her son-in-law, Don Sullivan; two grandchildren; her parents; her brothers Leonard, Donald and Gates Wetzbarger and her sisters Lenora and Lorraine.
