In a month, Emmet County volunteers- and people who need them - will find everything they need, all under one roof.
The website, wwwvolunteeremmetcounty.com, will allow volunteers to go online to find volunteer opportunities in any of a number of areas. This is something that's been needed for quite some time.
Why have everything all under one roof? Well, it's a great way for everyone to work together toward common goals - or pulling together instead of pulling apart.
For example, if volunteers are needed for a weekend event in June, the event could be posted on the Website. That way, anyone wanting to schedule another event the same weekend could think of an alternative date. (If you've tried to decide what to do the third or fourth weekend of every June, you know exactly what we're talking about)
The same goes for organizations looking for help. It would give them a place to go directly to find the sort of volunteers they need.
An added benefit of the network is that it would provide a public venue where any volunteer opportunities could receive the "seal of approval"of a responsible party.
The network will be able to help people not just in Estherville but in every Emmet County community coordinate their community celebrations to help ensure great attendance at all of them. And the timing couldn't be better, with community celebrations like the Emmet County Relay for Life, Armstrong Fourth of July celebration, the Estherville flight breakfast, Tuttle Lake Day, Sweet Corn Days, Wallingford Centennial, Gospel in the Square, Fort Defiance Day and other events coming up this summer and into the fall.
We congratulate Emmet County RSVP on heading up this valuable and timely project.
