TERRIL - Funeral services for Herman Andresen, 97, of Terril will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril with Pastor David Doellinger officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery in Wallingford.
He died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.
Herman William Andresen, the son of Andrew and Helena (Petersen) Andresen, was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Sac County.
Herman attended country school Violet Dale #2 through the eighth grade, then Wallingford High School grades 9-10 and then Estherville schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1932.
On Aug. 6, 1939, he was united in marriage to Darlene Bevard in Estherville. Following their marriage the couple made their home southwest of Wallingford. Later they moved to a farm east of Wallingford to make their home. They farmed there until 1956, then moved to a farm east of Terril, where they remained until their retirement. After retiring, the couple made their home in Terril. Darlene died in 2004.
Herman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril, Kiwanis Club and Farm Bureau. For hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Left to cherish Herman's memory are his five children, Darla (Michael) Crosser of Eldora, Herman "Bill" (Leslie) Andresen Jr. of Phoenix, Susan (Leonard) Erickson of Charles City, Constance (Dwayne) Sidles of Terril and Andrew (Sharon) Andresen of Bettendorf; foster daughter, Marilyn Monahan, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Bruce (Lavanda) Bergeson of Towanda, Kan., Rodney McBain of Eldora, Matthew McBain of Des Moines, Eric Andresen of Kansas City, Kan., Douglas Andresen of Phoenix, James (Tara) Erickson of Minneapolis, Darlena Erickson of Charles City, Natalie Sanders and her husband, Craig, of Greensboro, N.C., Nathan Sidles of Terril, Andrea (Justin) Odvarko of Bettendorf and Angela (Richard) Stotlar of Bettendorf; 11 great-grandchildren and sister, Helen Matheason of Estherville.
