ELC netters struggle against LeMars

LEMARS - With one player missing from the starting line-up, it didn't get any easier for Estherville Lincoln Central against LeMars on Monday.

ELC was without the services of No. 2 player Maddy Burns.

While ELC coach Larry Kirchner said the results might not have changed, it made it more difficult for the rest of the team.

ELC's best play of the day came at the No. 2 doubles as Amber Schacherer and Mackenzie Wilson held a 7-6 lead over Sophie Arens and Emily Pick before losing 10-8.

In singles play, Bailey Hagen lost 10-2 to Carolyn Ahlers; Samantha Rosinger lost 10-3 to Emily Ahlers; Schacherer lost 10-3 to Arens, Wilson lost 10-3 to Pick; Emily Jorgenson lost 10-3 to Jordie Helms and Kaylee Nissen lost 10-0 to Ellen Meis.

In doubles, Hagen and Rosinger lost 10-0 to Carolyn and Emily Ahlers and Jorgenson and Nissen lost 10-2 to helms and Britney Thompson.

In junior varsity play, ELC's players each played two singles matches. Rachael Mueller lost 6-0 and 6-1; Taylor Nissen lost 6-0 and won 6-4. Emily Origer lost 6-0 and 6-0. In doubles, Mueller and Origer lost 6-1.

ELC is scheduled to play at Spirit Lake on Thursday.
