Emmet County Democratic and Republican party officials will meet over the next few days to select their nominees for the county recorder position to replace Sue Snyder whose last day was Monday, April 29.
According to Iowa Code, the county board of supervisors, which is responsible for either appointing a replacement or holding a special election, must wait until the position is vacated to proceed with the replacement process. The Emmet County Board of Supervisors decided Tuesday on a special election which will be held Tuesday, June 4.
Democrats will meet at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Iowa Lakes Community College Auditorium in Estherville to select a nominee. Any Democrat interested may contact Steve Erickson, Emmet County Democratic Central Committee Chair, at (712) 209-0195.
Republicans will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at the Estherville Public Library Community Room to nominate their candidate. Diane Minion of Estherville indicated her interest in the position at the Emmet County Republican meeting Saturday, April 27.
