CHEROKEE - The Spirit Lake Park Boys Track Team won its fourth straight Lakes Conference meet on Monday. The Indians edged past LeMars by a point, 116 to 115.
Will Norris helped the team to three top finishes. He won the 1600-meter run in 4 minutes, 37.94 seconds and the 3200-meter run in 9:43.87. He also anchored the winning distance medley team of Cody pock, Bryson McCabe and Caleb Jennings. Their winning time was 3:40.84.
The first and second place finishers in each race earn all-conference honors.
Mark Norland won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes flat and also finished second in the 1600-meter run in 4:37.98.
Poock also wont he shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 6 inches.
The Indians' 4x100-meter relay of Jacob Jenness, Austin Folsom, Poock and McCabe finished second in 45.27 seconds. Tyler Petersen finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.85 seconds.
In other action, the 4x80-meter relay team of Paul Woizeschke, Trevor Jensen, Blake Enderson and Norland placed third in 827.78.G Tanner Goetsch finished third in the 3200-meter run in 10:07.11. Petersen was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.71 seconds. Jenness finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 142 feet, 1 inches. Folsom was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 4 inches.
McCabe finished fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.58 seconds while Folsom was sixth in 11.63 seconds.
Pat Woizeschke placed fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 1.72 seconds. Goetsch finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:06.94.
Also fifth were the 4x200-meter relay team of Jennings, Jenness, Poock and McCabe in 1:35.39 and the 4x400-meter relay team of Jennings, Enderson, Paul Woizeschke and Pat Woizeschke in 3:38.16.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Trevor Jensen, Pat Woizeschke, Austin Fagen and Jack Kelly placed sixth in 1:08.26.
