Tyler Swanson struck out 11 Sioux Central players and went 2-3 with two doubles and three RBIs to help his own cause in a 6-2 Estherville Lincoln Central victory on Thursday.
"Tyler threw right at them all night," said ELC coach Lee Evans. "Our at-bats are also getting better from that first night."
In the Midgets first game earlier this week against Bishop Garrigan, they had no hits.

"Our kids were more disciplined tonight and that sets them up to be successful," Evans said.
ELC went to work in the second inning at the plate. Adam Reiter led off with a single, Bryce Hansen walked and Swanson hit his first double down the left-field line to score a run. Evan Hansen drew a walk to reload the bases and Billy Snyder singled threw the right side of the infield to bring in two more runs.
After Sioux Central got one run back in the top of the third inning, ELC kept up the pressure in the bottom of the inning. Tucker Milburn led off with a single, but was out as Corey Reeves reached on a fielder's choice. Adam Reiter then hit a sharp grounder to the Rebels' second baseman, which he booted as both runners were safe. Bryce Hansen singled to load the bases.
Swanson again doubled to bring in two runs as ELC led 5-1.
Sioux Central got another run in the top of the fifth, but ELC answered with an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Billy Snyder reached on an error and scored two batters later when Matt Burrell hit a triple.
Burrell took over for Swanson on the mound in the seventh and faced the final three batters. The first two popped up and the third went down on strikes.
At the plate for ELC, Burrell was 2-4 with a triple and an RBI. Bryce Hansen was 1-2, Reiter was 1-3, Snyder was 1-4 with two RBIs and Milburn was 1-4.
ELC (1-2 overall) hosts Forest City tonight.
