ORANGE CITY - The Spirit Lake softball team won a slugfest against MOC-Floyd Valley, outscoring the Dutch 5-0 in the seventh inning on the way to a 19-14 victory.
The Indians pounded out 18 hits led by Alissa Christoffer, who went 6-for-6 with a triple and three RBIS. Paige Krause was 3-4 with three RBIs and Carly Ites was 3-6 with three RBIs. Also Kayla Herrig and Hannah Subrink had two RBIs apiece while Bailee Newman was 2-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI.
Hayley Roberts, Mackenzie That and Sami Ashland each had a hit.
Newman pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 12 runs (11 earned) on nine hits with 10 strikeouts and 10 walks. Ashland closed out the game giving up two earned runs on four hits with no walks or strikeouts.
Spirit Lake was home scheduled to host Emmetsburg on Wednesday.
