Woodward native Nathan Essary believes Estherville will be a good fit for his family.
At its regular meeting Monday, the Estherville Lincoln Central approved Essary's hiring as middle school principal.
Essary said becoming a building principal has long been a career goal of his.

"Now with having this opportunity, It's a position I want to stay in for a while," he said.
Essary said that he began researching the town of Estherville when he learned the position came open.
"As a former Boy Scout, I was told always be prepared," Essary said.
In touring the town and talking to the teachers and staff, he said the community "seems like a great fit.
"The things I've learned about the community fit into by personal philosophy," he said.
Essary was born and raised in Woodward and graduated from Woodward-Granger High School. He received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from Drake University in Des Moines.
He began teaching eighth-grade science in Perry, Iowa in August 2006 and has been there since. He received his master's in administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix in 2010.
He and his wife Carrie have a 3-year-old daughter, Liliana.
