An overwhelming majority - 86 percent - of voters in both Armstrong-Ringsted and Sentral school districts approved coming together as one district in the special school merger election Tuesday.
There were 291 A-R voters in favor of merger with 42 against, for 87 percent approval.
Sentral had 78 in favor with 18 opposed, for 81 percent approval.
The districts will be fully merged as North Union School District effective July 1, 2014, with plans to whole-grade share with North Kossuth with an eye toward another consolidation in the future.
A-R Board meets tonight
The A-R board will discuss reorganization with Sentral at its monthly meeting 6 p.m. tonight in the district office in Armstrong.
Under related items, the board will act on an amended sports sharing agreement.
The board will also:
n Approve salary for high-school cross-country position.
n Approve business manager/board secretary contract.
n Approve assistant principal/athletic director/curriculum director contract.
n Approve contracts/resignations.
n Act on personnel items including a possible closed session.
