Indians give 4A No. 3 Bulldogs a scare

LEMARS - After scoring a run in the first inning, Spirit Lake threatened an upset against Class 4A No. 3 LeMars.

But the Bulldogs manufactured a run in the fifth inning to tie the game and came up with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for a 2-1 on Monday.

Bailee Newman took the loss as she gave up two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Indians had four hits led by Alissa Christoffer, who went 2-3 and score the team's only run. Mackenzie Thate was 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Kayla Herrig, Paige Krause and Hayley Robert each went 1-3.

Spirit Lake (15-12 overall) was at Sheldon Tuesday. The Indians came to Estherville this evening.
