Tornadoes avenge loss to Midgets

STORM LAKE - Storm Lake avenged its worse loss of the season with a 7-2 victory over Estherville Lincoln Central on Wednesday.

The Midgets had defeated the Tornadoes 13-3 on June 3.

This time the Tornadoes' Ethan Kinkel kept the Midgets bats mostly silent as he gave up just one hit with nine strikeouts and four walks.

"Kinkel was just dominant and we just couldn't put much together against him," said ELC coach Lee Evans.

Tyler Swanson took the loss for ELC. He pitched six innings and gave up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts, four walks and one hit batter.

ELC struggled early in the contest with four errors in the first two innings.

Tucker Milburn had ELC's lone hit as he went 1-3 with an RBI. Swanson also had an RBI in the contest.

ELC (10-13 overall) travels to Spirit Lake on Monday.

The ELC Junior Varsity (14-3-1) defeated Storm Lake 20-6 on Wednesday.

Austin Egeland pitched five innings and gave up one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

At the plate, Hunter King was 3-3 with three RBIs; Dan Christensen was 2-3; Carsten Bosch was 1-3; Blake Gjerde was 1-4; Egeland was 1-2; Jake Bortvit was 1-1 and Zach Humble and Tim Greving each went 1-3 with an RBI.
