Ruthven man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

A traffic stop near Estherville on Tuesday led to the arrest of a Ruthven man on drug charges.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., the Estherville Police Department stopped a vehicle on Highway 4 south of Estherville for a traffic violation. During the stop the officer observed the driver throw something out of the passenger window of the vehicle and into the ditch.

The officer made contact with driver who was identified as 54-year-old Roger Kruse of Ruthven. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Kruse driver's license was suspended. The police K-9 Max was deployed to do an article search and located an eye glass case with drug paraphernalia inside it.

Kruse was placed under arrest for driving while under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Emmet County Jail.
