July 30, 2013
Estherville Daily News

Entries are needed for the parade for the Wallingford Centennial. The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11.

This is a great chance to haul out Grandpa's old wagon or to show off your antique or classic car. Centennials only come around once every hundred years, you know, so you really want to get in on this one.

To register for the parade, call Ron Sabby at (712) 867-4438 or Jarrod Fischer at (712) 867-4191.

The Wallingford Centennial actually gets under way with karaoke at The Pub from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

Events really crank up Saturday, Aug. 10 with historical displays in the Community Center and Buffalo Ridge Renegades, both all day.

There's a pancake breakfast in the fire station from 7-10 a.m., fun run registration at 7:30 and softball tournament and fun run both starting at 8.

Registration will be at 9 a.m. at Mickelson Park in Estherville for the Emmet County Water Trails Association river float. The barbecue cookoff will also start at 9 at The Pub with pie bakeoff judging at the Community Center at 10. Also at 10 will be the tractor pull, volleyball tournament and pageant on the stage.

Kids games will be in the park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and stage performances also start at 11. The Bethel Lutheran Church dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A bean bag tournament will start at The Pub at 1. From 1-3 p.m. there will be free ice cream and bingo at the Community Center. The Wallingford Fire Department will have a dinner from 4-8 p.m. and the Brian Arnold Patriotic Show will be on the stage from 6-8 p.m. The Pub street dance featuring the band ZZ3 will start at 9.

Historical displays will again be in the Community Center all day Sunday, with the Buffalo Ridge Renegades through the day as well. Rolls and coffee will be available at the Community Center at 7 and at 8 the softball tournament and Black Knights Car Show both start.

Wallingford Lutheran will hold a church service at 9:30 and the tractor ride starts at 10:30. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wallingford Lutheran will hold a dinner and the Brian Arnold Gospel Show will be on the stage.

A children's theater will be at Wallingford Lutheran at noon and at 1 p.m. the beard contest winners will be announced. After the parade at 1:30, water fights will be held on North Third Street at 2:30. There will be free watermelon in city park at 3 with a kiddie tractor pull in the tennis courts at 3:30.
