BOONE - The Algona High School Girls Swim Team dropped a double dual at Boone Tuesday night. Score was Boone-74, Algona 28 and Perry 56, Algona 41.

A top finish for the night included the junior varsity 200-medley relay team of Bridget Finley, Kaylie Adams, Michelle Goodman and Ashley Wille, which won with a time of 3 minutes, 5.50 seconds. Finley also finished first in the 50 free with a time of 32.43 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:32.07.

On the varsity night in the 200 yard free style, Jessica Anderson placed second to Boone and first against Perry with a time of 2.23.38, while Maddie Stubbs was second to Perry and first against Boone in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1.09.04. The 400 yard free relay team of Emma Plathe, Stubbs, Sophie Curtis and Anderson placed first against Perry and second to Boone.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Casey Harms, Abby Strohman, Stubbs and Plathe finished second to both Boone and Perry, with a time of 2.18.05. The 200 yard free relay team also finished in second in 2:06.10. That team consisted of Curtis, Strohman, Ashlyn Reimers and Anderson.

Riemers was also third in diving with 91.50 points.

"We had some girls drop times from the first meet which is good but it showed some of the younger girls how much work they have to do," said Algona coach Jim Fisher. "This is a young team and they need to learn how to compete, but it is encouraging when nobody is happy with their time. That means they will come back to practice and work hard to get ready for the next meet."
