"Emerging Learners in the Classroom" - that's the logo of the new banner the Estherville Lincoln Central Foundation recently rolled out just in time for the Champions in Education banquet Oct. 19 at Estherville Golf Course.

The foundation sponsors scholarships and Key Grants in which staff may hold a certain amount from their paychecks which is matched by a grant for special classroom supplies. Foundation president Molly Jo Anderson said the foundation has previously awarded Key Grants for Smart Boards, iPads, laptops, Kindles for libraries and educationally based field trips that enhance classroom curriculum.

The foundation's Champion in Education, who has previously been announced before the banquet, will actually be announced at this year's banquet which will have a masquerade ball theme. As before, an extensive hors d'oeuvre' spread will be offered.

Middle-school talented and gifted coordinator Lois Fraser, who will select a scholarship to present one of the graduating seniors next May, was on hand with Anderson to reveal the new banner on Wednesday.
