STORM LAKE - The varsity boys at the Storm Lake Cross Country Meet had to deal with some wet conditions in their race on Tuesday.

Some of the Estherville Lincoln Central runners improved times while others were cautious as the Midgets placed 13th out of 16 teams with 308 points.

Lee Christensen led the way with a 22nd place finish in 17 minutes 38 seconds. Nic Peters, who was competing in his second meet this season, finished 25th in 17:45. Tristan Fales placed 75th in 19:09 while Kelly Clabaugh placed 91st in 20:19 and Kevin Dong placed 100th in 21:13.

Also Drew Condo placed 103rd in 21:54 and Dorde Komlen placed 105th in 22:01.

"Most of the boys have improved times, but the course was very slick and they often struggled to get traction," said ELC coach Tina Burton. "We also have to learn how to pack better."

Burton said it's good to have Peters back in the lineup.

Meanwhile Dong is a latecomer to the team.

"he's a great addition to us as a fifth runner," Burton said. "But he's still trying to figure out how to race. This was only his second meet."

In the junior varsity boys' race, Alex Miller placed 91st in 22:110, Isaac Jorgenson placed 113th in 23:08 and Evan Drew placed 116th in 23:16.

ELC travels to Sheldon next Tuesday.
