Plenty to do this weekend

September 20, 2013
Estherville News

If you're looking for something to see or do, you don't have to go any further than our immediate area this weekend.

The Emmet County Conservation Foundation is holding Pioneer Days at Peterson Point Historic Farmstead 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with lunch served starting at 11 a.m. See blacksmithing demonstrations and have fun with horseshoes, wagon rides, youth archery from 10 a.m. to noon and map orienteering. The farmstead is east of Wallingford and just south of the Emmet County Nature Center. Proceeds go toward restoration of the historical homestead.

The fifth annual Gospel on the Square will be 3-7 p.m. Saturday in Library Square in Estherville. Besides live music, you'll find market and food vendors. This is a great concert with a lot of inspirational bands and entertainment. Gospel on the Square is sponsored by the Excel! Estherville Arts & Culture Committee.

The Black Knights Car Club will hold its annual airport drags at the Spencer Airport this Sunday.

The gates open at 9 a.m. with racing going from 11 a.m. to 4 pm. Racers pay $5 a pass or $20 for all day.

Admission is $5 a person and kids under 12 are free.

Proceeds from the drags go toward the many worthy causes that the Black Knights support.

With so much to do locally, it's hard to decide what to do. But just hang around this weekend, and have a great time.
