Estherville Lincoln Central notched its fifth win with a sweep over Emmetsburg in Lakes Conference play on Tuesday.

With a large crowd on hand to support "Pink Out" Night, the Midgets got off to a slow start in game one and needed a late 7-2 rally to pull out a 25-22 victory.

"We got off to a slow start," said ELC coach Carly Marx. "We did do well in our tournament this past weekend so we needed to build some confidence and get back in a groove. It was nice to do that before Thursday."

In the second game, ELC trailed 11-7 when they put together a 13-1 run with Caitlyn Clayton at the service line for a majority of those points to put the game out of reach.

The Midgets did give up a 6-0 run to the E'Hawks, who got within two at 20-18. But a back-row kill by Clayton and an ace serve by Megan Jensen closed out the 25-20 win.

Using the momentum of the first two games, ELC jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third game building a 15-5 lead and then cruised to the victory.

Megan Jensen had a big night for ELC with 14 kills while Clayton finished with seven.

Joslyn Moore had 15 set assists.

ELC finished with nine ace serves, which included three by Moore and two each from Alicia Jorgenson and Jensen.

Clayton had a team-high 17 digs while Jordan Phillips had 13, Moore had 10 and Katie Gruhlke had nine. Lauren Moeller and Jorgenson each had a block.

ELC travels to Spirit Lake on Thursday.
