ELC wins Lady Bison Tourney

BUFFALO CENTER - Four victories gave the Estherville Lincoln Central Volleyball Team first place at the Lady Bison Tournament in Buffalo Center on Saturday.

In the round-robin tournament, ELC defeated West Bend-Mallard, North Iowa, West Hancock and Newman Catholic.

ELC first defeated West Bend-Mallard 21-9, 21-19. Joslyn Moore led the team in digs (9), ace serves (4) and set assists (5) in the win. Megan Jensen had eight kills and six digs. Rylee Miller finished with three kills while Caitlyn Clayton had two kills and six digs.

ELC lost its only set of the day against host North Iowa 21-11. But the Midgets won the next two 21-15, 15-13 to take that match.

Jensen, Miller and Clayton each had three kills. Moore had three ace serves and six digs. Jensen and Maddie Rimmer each had nine digs, Jordan Phillips had five, Clayton had four, Maddy Burns had three and Katie Gruhlke had two.

In a 21-12, 21-9 win over West Hancock. Moore had six ace serves and three set assists. Jensen finished with nine kills and Miller had two. Defensively, Gruhlke had seven digs, Clayton had six, Jensen had five and Phillips had four. Lauren Moeller had one block.

ELC then defeated Newman 21-19, 21-10. Jensen led the attack with 12 kills while Clayton had four, Cydnie Anderson had three and Miller had one. Moore had two ace serves while Clayton, Jensen and Gruhlke each had one. Moore had four assists and Emily Behrends had two. Jensen and Gruhlke finished with nine digs apiece while Moore had six and Phillips had two. Moeller had another block.

ELC (9-13 overall) hosts LeMars on Tuesday.
