Olesen, Oliver lead North Union to win

GRAETTINGER - North Union watched a double digit lead fall to six points, but the Warriors made enough free throws to defeat Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire by 10, 49-39, on Friday.
North Union led 18-13 after one quarter, 31-19 at halftime and 41-28 after three quarters. The final quarter featured several fouls on both ends of the court. The Titans narrowed the gap to 44-38on two free throw by Lauren Flaharty with about 3 1/2 minutes left in the game.
But she fouled out soon after, one of three Titans to foul out of the game along with Marly Bakken and Grace Skattebo.
Peyton Oleson led North Union with 11 points while Aurora Oliver and Dena Looft each had 10. Alexis Valvick had eight points while Sarah Rolling had six and Madison Bollig had four. The Warriors were 12-of-28 from the free-throw line while GTRA finished 13-of27.
Brooke Hoffman led the Titans with 16 points, Skattebo had seven, Flaharty had six, Morgan McGrauth had five, Bakken had three and Katie Olesen had two.
North Union (3-2 overall) is at Estherville on Monday. The Warriors host Clay Central-Everly on Tuesday.
GTRA (3-3 overall) hosts West Bend-Mallard in Ruthven on Thursday.
North Union falls to 1A No. 1 N-F, 57-34
North Union couldn't keep up with Class 1A's top team, Newell-Fonda on Thursday.
The Mustangs led 16-7 after one quarter, 30-14 at halftime and 39-21 after three quarters.
Madison Bollig led the Warriors with eight points, Peyton Oleson had six, Maddie Irmiter and Dena Looft had four.
