EMMETSBURG - Joe Heinrichs hit six 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to help Estherville Lincoln Central to an 80-50 victory over Emmetsburg.
And while the 80 points put up by the Midgets are impressive, ELC coach Corey Christopher points to the defense for getting the job done.
"There's nothing you can really say negative about this game for us," Christopher said. "It's a culmination of three games of frustration."

After starting the season with a 7-2 record, the Midgets opened 2014 with losses to Lakes Conference leaders Western Christian and LeMars as well as a non-conference loss to Jackson County Central.
"I'm really happy for this bunch of kids," said Christopher. "You can go right up and down the line. We got the level we needed from every single kid and that's a great feeling as a coach."
Heinrichs started the game with his first 3-pointer followed by a three-point play from Justin Heinrichs. ELC led 10-2 after the first 3 minutes of the game and appeared on the way to putting Emmetsburg away early,.
But both teams scored just four points the rest of the first quarter as ELC led 14-6.
The Midgets began lighting up the scoreboard in the second quarter. David Hughes challenged the interior of the E'Hawk defense with six points early in the period. Carsten Bosch and Joe Heinrichs also got inside. But it was two late 3-pointers by Joe Heinrichs that helped ELC take a 39-21 lead at the break.
The pace slowed somewhat in the third quarter, but Joe Heinrichs notched his last two 3-pointers and ELC extended its lead to 55-34 to start the final period.
"You could see in the second half, if he got the ball and a good look, he was going to send it up and it would likely go in tonight," said Christopher.
ELC ended the game with another big 25-point quarter with Kyle DeVary coming off the bench to score all seven of his points.
Hughes finished the game with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Bosch finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Rodrick Fuller came off the bench to give ELC nine points while Justin Heinrichs had eight, Clay Tredway had five and Bryce Mann had three.
Coach Christopher commended his big men for their defense on Emmetsburg's 6-6 post Erik Drost. Drost, who averages 17 points per game, was limited to 10 points.
Christopher cited, Tredway, Hughes and DeVary for their play against Drost.
ELC (8-5 overall, 4-3 in the Lakes Conference) travels to Spencer on Tuesday and hosts Storm Lake on Friday.
ELC lost at home to Spencer 59-55 earlier in the season. The Midgets defeated Storm Lake 57-52 in Storm Lake earlier this year.
In junior varsity play, ELC lost 51-44 to Emmetsburg.
