Charles B. Clark M.D., J.D.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. - Charles B. Clark M.D., J.D. died Dec. 2, 2013 at his home in Roseville, Calif.. from leukemia. Charles was born Dec 18, 1931 at the University Hospital in Iowa City to Dr. James P. Clark and Arlene Belding Clark. The family moved to Estherville, IA the next year and Charles grew up there and finished his high school education at Shattuck School in Fairbault MN.

Dr. Clark attended Grinnell College before his National Guard Unit, Battery C of the 194th Field Artillery Battalion, was called to active duty at the time of the Korean War in 1950.

When he returned he completed his college under graduate degree and his M.D. at the University of IA. He completed residencies in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He then entered a program for Surgery of the Hand at various surgical centers in European countries. In 1967 he opened his private practice specializing in surgery of the hand and upper extremities. This continued until only weeks before his death. During these years he studied law and earned a J.D. degree in 1980.

Survivors include his children, Greg and Juli, both of Roseville, his former wife Ladaun of Auburn,CA, and his long time companion, Dixie Cook of Roseville. Also brothers Jim, Neil, Steve and sisters Nancy Brown and Marcia Lipson.

He was predeceased by his brother David and parents.

Charles loved nature and photography. Combining these two interests gave him many years of enjoyment. One of his hobbies was bird watching. In recent years he made many trips back to IA to see birds that they don't have in CA. Yearly trips were made to Estherville for his Army Reunion when he could reconnect with his Army buddies.
