ALGONA - Senior Brooke Hoffman made five 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to lead Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire past Bishop Garrigan, 54-47, in a Class 1A first-round game on Friday.
The Titans (10-9) advance to play Cornbelt Conference rival Harris-Lake Park (16-6) at 7 p.m., Tuesday in Lake Park. H-LP won the previous two meetings against GT/RA, 48-39 on Jan. 7 and 59-39 on Feb. 7.
While Hoffman got hot in the second quarter, the Titans were firing on all cylinders in the first quarter. GT/RA opened the game with a 15-2 run which included two 3-pointers from Hoffman, five points from Grace Skattebo and a basket each from Alex Oleson and Marly Bakken.

"We played very well tonight and got off to a fast start, which helped," said GT/RA coach Todd Hough. "We shot the ball extremely well from behind the arc. The girls played with a lot of energy tonight, which was nice to see."
After Garrigan (8-14) connected on a 3-pointer, Bakken hit one of her own and then Lauren Flaharty scored to give the Titans a 20-5 lead. The Golden Bears hit the last basket of the first quarter, but the Titans led 20-7. The hosts scored the first six points of the second quarter to get within seven, 20-13. But then Hoffman heated up to hit consecutive 3-pointers to push the lead back to 13 at 26-13. Her final 3-pointer of the night came with 1:40 left in the first half as the Titans led 31-18. But Garrigan finished the half with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 33-25.
Out of the lockerroom, Garrigan clamped down on Hoffman defensively, but her teammates stepped up. A basket by Skatttebo and Bakken's second 3-pointer pushed the lead back to double digits at 38-25. The teams traded buckets over the new few minutes, but a basket by Hoffman matched the Titans biggest lead at 44-29.
GT/RA held a 46-34 lead to start the final frame.
The Golden Bears began making a run in the fourth quarter as the Titans went cold. However, GT/RA still led 51-42 with 2 minutes left in the game.
But a 3-pointer and another basket by Garrigan senior Gracie Fehr cut the deficit to fur 51-47 with 1:24 remaining. While the Titans struggled to close out the game at the free throw line, their defense kept Garrigan from scoring the rest of the way.
Bakken finished with nine points, six rebounds and four assists. Alex Oleson chipped in eight points. Grace Skattebo had seven rebounds and Hoffman and Lauren Flaharty each had six. Morgan McGrauh had seven assists and two steals.
