Iowa Lakes sophomores Leah Courtney and Shabreka Edwards put the team on their collective backs in the second half to lead the Lakers to a 79-71 win over Southeastern in the duo's final home game of the season on Saturday.

In the second half, Courtney scored 16 of her game-high 26 points and Edwards scored 14 of her 20 points after the Lakers had trailed nearly all of the first half.

Iowa Lakes' guards continued to pass the ball inside to the duo and Southeastern didn't have any answer.

After trailing 40-34 at the break, the Lakers (7-23 overall, 4-12 in the ICCAC) didn't take their first lead until a basket by Edwards with 12:40 remaining made the score 52-51. After a basket by Southeastern, Edwards promptly gave the Lakers the lead back that started a 15-2 run over the next 6 minutes. She bookeneded the run that gave the Lakers a 67-55 lead with about 5 minutes remaining.

Courtney gave the Lakers their biggest lead at 71-57 with 4:30 remaining and again with 3:10 remaining when the score was 75-61.

The visiting Blackhawks outscored the hosts 10-1 over the next few minutes, cutting the lead to 76-71, but a 3-pointer by Nijala Johnson in the final minute closed out the game.

Johnson finished with 14 points while Allie Kemeny had six, Shaunte Tucker and Natasha Kindred each had four, Sobrina West had three and Aliyah Gipson had two.

Courtney also finished with a game-high 13 rebounds and Johnson had 16 assists. Edwards had seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
